Greetings on this beautiful fall morning! A note to visitors: Barn Raisin’ is a symbol we are using here at Highlands to describe the process of spiritual transformation. This message today is my reflection of Barn Raisin’ at a personal level.

Change with Intention


Do you ever ask yourself the question, “What is going on in the world today?” Do you ever associate what is going on in the world with what is happening on a far smaller scale at home, at work, or at Highlands Lutheran Church?

What about the strange weather events across the world during the past year; the Tsunami in Japan? Have you noticed how oppressive regimes all over the world are becoming destabilized by their own people? What about the potential for gene therapy healing leukemia or Superstring Theory and the prospect that a portal exists to eleven dimensions from within each atom in your body. In considering such strange phenomena, I cannot help but think of those words made famous by Bob Dylan, “For the times they are a-changin’”

Something strange, and wonderful, is happening in our world today and many believe that it is unlike anything that has ever occurred in the history of the planet. In the area of technology alone, the changes are mind boggling, beyond belief or understanding. The world is now in a hyper-change mode.

During the last five decades there have been many who have said that the institution of church is dying. Well, allow me, for a few minutes, to share my thoughts and feelings about this change.
